The Future is Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain as a Service

Updated: Jan 4, 2019

As a kid growing up in India, I was obsessed with Masters of the Universe character, He-Man. Yes, he had superhuman strength, but it was his genius-level intellect that inspired me.

The closest thing I had to superpowers was my instinctive proficiency in math and coding. Early on, I realized I could use my coding and “mathy” skills to build software, but I wanted to use them for good. Just like how He-Man used his powers to help humanity, as a kid, and even today, I am dedicated to using my skills and expertise in software applications to help people live better lives with technology.

As such, I have been following and living the evolution of software. Now things are speeding up, even exploding. The prominence of the Internet and the global free flow of data is resulting in myriad inventions across the world in computer science. No longer is it just a few companies that are building transformational applications. Now the opportunity is in everyone’s hands. And, now, for the first time, we are moving into the era where we will be able to build software that is smart and secure.

In the recent Forbes story about IDC’s Top 10 Predictions For Worldwide IT in 2019, contributor, Louis Columbus, calls the rapid digitization of competitors and industries, “a clock ticking loudly in the heads of every CEO. IDC advises enterprises that if they’re not digitally transforming their companies at an aggressive pace, that by 2022, just over two-thirds of their total addressable markets will be gone.”

In software, as in life, in order to understand where we are going, and be wise and humane in our choices, it is important to look at the past. Historically, the evolution of software development has gone through five phases, or generations:

1. Stone Ages

2. Client/Server

3. Web/Single-tenancy

4. SaaS

5. ABaaS (the future!)

In the last 40 years, hardware and software programming languages have evolved substantially which led to an amazing cycle of development for software applications. The prominence of the Internet is, of course, a key factor for the free flow of data globally resulting in myriad of inventions across the world in computer science.

In the evolution cycle, we are still in the infancy of AI’s revolution. Artificial Intelligence is adding cognitive capabilities such as problem solving and self-learning and will have a deeper impact in every industry and walk of life. While we are not technologically where the imagination and vision of fiction movies in AI have taken us, we have made tremendous progress from when Jon McCarthy’s originally coined the term “artificial intelligence” in 1955.

At the core of all software applications, security and privacy of data have always been crucial, and Blockchain, though originally started as a distributed ledger for cryptocurrencies, has since found usage in a vast number of security applications. Adoption of Blockchain in next-generation software applications is key to establishing the trust and confidence through security standards that are consistent.

So, what is ABaaS? The future!

In the near future, the need for applications to be both intelligent and secure will solve the software company’s most common problem.

ABaaS, or Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain as a service, is the next evolutionary step for software applications as security and cognitive capabilities are becoming synonymous with user expectations and confidence in an application. These services would help application development companies incorporate AI without having to build them from the ground up. At the core, these services will allow development companies to utilize customer data and engage with the ABaaS providers to build predictive and secure applications.

ABaaS is the future and it will not discriminate against different peoples based on race or color and will help us figure out complex problems such as weather, world hunger, as well as diagnose and cure diseases.

I founded BitCot to put my ideas and talents into action, to create software for the greater good, and to be a leader in our digital transformation, bit by bit. At BitCot, we are thrilled to have hit a milestone of building 300 applications and are excited about what’s to come.
